An Oklahoma student-led group held Crimson and Caffeine Thursday, Nov. 30 as a fundraiser for an upcoming medical trip on.

According to the Honduras Global Brigade’s co-president, Avery Brant, about 200 people came out to support their trips to Honduras and Nicaragua.

Last year the Global Brigaders raised more than $50,000, but this year they expect to double that.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if the brigaders raised over $100,000,” said Honduras co-president, Parker Kneis.

Desserts and other assorted snacks were offered alongside hot chocolate and coffee. Attendees even got a taste of what they were donating to—all the coffee was from Honduras.

Pre-sale tickets were $5 and $7 at the door. Artwork was also available for sale.

“We’re currently fundraising to make money to provide the medicine needed for the next trip,” said Megan Vos, passport and immunizations chair. “Because on top of the flight money and the money we pay to go, we also have to pay for all of the medicine provided there.”

All proceeds go towards medical supplies the groups will need when they travel to the countries they will be serving in this summer. The final fundraising total of the event has yet to be calculating.
