Businesses on Lindsey Street Continue to Struggle Amid Construction

Mr. Short Stop and Thrift Nation are just two businesses that are struggling during the renovations of Lindsey Street.

For Mr. Short Stop, the gas station experienced a major drop in customer traffic which has resulted in the business only allowing one employee on the clock at a time on any given work day. For Thrift Nation, the store opened just over a year ago shortly after the beginning of the construction on Lindsey.

While it is hard to analyze the impacts of the construction on Thrift Nation since the business opened just shortly after the beginning of the construction, store manager Linda Steele can see the frustration in her customers faces, “People come in grumpy. They come in fussing about the construction and they don’t like it,” Steele said.

Eleven businesses have already shut down since the beginning of the construction, and with the construction not expected to be completed until November, more businesses could follow in the footsteps of those that have closed.

Follow the link below to see the reactions from the store managers at Mr. Short Stop and Thrift Nation in regards to the construction.
